What Is Your Goal?
My goal is to exercise more often, and become more physically fit. I'll know I've reached my goal when I am working out 3-4 times per week (30 minutes or more each time). It will feel wonderful because I'll have more energy, will feel healthier, and will look good in my workout clothes :)
What Are The Steps To Get There?
After enlisting the support of a workout buddy and some home equipment, I'll start working out two times per week, 30 minutes each time. After two weeks, I'll work out three times per week, 30 minutes each time. Then I'll add workouts or time to my workouts as my schedule permits, maintaining the habit throughout the year.
Advice
- I've done this before, and I was quite successful before I got too busy. Starting an exercise class that was fun and social was a great help.
- Also, rewarding myself with new workout clothes is great because it's a functional reward.
- Having a workout buddy, a personal trainer or wellness coach, or someone who keeps you accountable can be very useful as well.
How Will You Reward Your Progress?
At the end of each day, I'll reward myself with a huge sundae--just kidding! I'll do the workout clothing thing every two weeks until I have been working out for 2 months; then I'll reward myself monthly.
How Will You Get On Track If You Stall?
I'll start again with baby steps, rewarding myself for 'getting back to it.
