Some Good Will Come
- I always tell myself that everything balances out, so if things look awful right now, something wonderful is just around the corner. It's amazing how often it actually works out that way. The worst relationship of my life led me directly to the best. A horrible job situation put me on the path to the best job I've ever had. It just takes faith that "this, too, shall pass" to get to the really wonderful parts of life.

Stitching Keeps Me Sane
- I do needlework. When I am stressed it helps to calm me down. Some of my most productive times have been during family crises. 20 minutes stitching does more for me than any medicine can.

Forgiveness
- I start every morning in a peaceful area I created outside. I forgive myself first, then others, think of one thing to be thankful for & one positive thought. I use controlled breathing, total body relaxation, meditation, & I think of a peaceful area & mentally go there. I imagine smells, colors, sights & sounds that are refreshing & calming.

Think About It in a Larger Context
- I try to picture the outcome of the situation, positively of course. Then I work to fill in the gaps. Don't drown in the emotions and believe in your intellect and skills to guide you through the process. Use tools that are around you, make to-do lists, and depend on your close relationships for support.

Taking Stock
- All the above are so true but I will just add. It helps to take in a deep breadth, and take stock. This means asking the question, where are you going, where are you now and what is the effect of what has really happened. This allows you many things, to be grateful for what you have at hand, to know that it is another stage in your journey even though you ae not there yet and finally to rest a bit and get up again. We are all on a journey and will have to stop regularly to restock if we are going to get far, our children will still carry on.

The Worst
- Just try to visualize the worst thing that can happen, and you will realize that you are always well down below!! It helps and gives comfort to go on.

Meditation
- When things get really difficult for me, I use meditation to stay grounded. I get to a really peaceful place, and often find wisdom coming to me, so I know what to do next. It's an all-purpose coping strategy for me, so I use it when I'm in major crisis, or just dealing with a rough day.

A Little Help From My Friends
- I'd like to say that I stay strong on my own, but relying on the support of friends is what really helps me to get through the hard times.
