Favorite Meditation Music

Jim Brickman- piano Dave Coz-sax jazz Joseph Williams-piano; not mellow but still relaxing.

Favorite Music for Relaxation

Marc Enfroy. I got some free MP3's on his website and I am hooked.

Universal Mind Meditation

In addition to Universal Mind Meditation by Kelly Howell which I relax with several times a week, my husband has a couple of other CDs of flutes and Native American music that I like to listen to on occasion. I also have some very relaxing tracks on my iPod that are mostly chimes and rain... I love the rain sounds.

Opera

Believe it or not, I find listening to opera quite relaxing. My favorite tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, is the best--what an incredible voice he had.

Pan Flute and Nature Sounds

I prefer that my relaxation/meditation music have no distinct melody. Random trills on a pan flute coupled with nature sounds and possibly some light drums (nothing too rhythmic, though) is what works for me. If there's too much of a melody or rhythm, it's just distracting for me, and meditation is hard enough for a type-A like me anyway. (The whole "blank slate" thing is super-challenging.)

Ladysmith Black Mombaza

I have several albums of this group. The music soothes my soul. It really depends on my mood though - Sometimes I listen to the Rent soundtrack to calm down - not exactly soothing music, but it works for me!

Rejuvenate Naturally - Dr Lee Bartel

Found this one at one of those displays at a discount store, and LOVE it. It's so relaxing.

Wind Chimes and Train Whistles

I seldom listen to the radio or CDS. I'm weird that way. But there are sounds that I love such as children giggling with delight or wind chimes tingling in the breeze. I am very fond of the sound of train whistles late at night when I'm laying in bed with my own thoughts.

Stress Relief Music

Definitely Pat Metheny is my first choice. Call me weird but any one of his large ensemble groups just takes me away to another world which I have a hard time not getting completely engrossed in and checked into the world beyond my daily concerns.

DASI

This woman has a beautiful voice and a devotional heart. Her music deepens my inner connection.

Boards of Canada

The album to get is "The Campfire Headphase." It's so easy to center yourself in ambient electronic lush. Also great - any of Brian Eno's ambient albums like "Music for Airports" or "Apollo Atmospheres and Soundtracks."

Mozart

I know it's a bit cliche' to listen to classical music as a stress reliever, but Mozart's music is just perfect, in my opinion, for meditation. It's emotional and beautiful. (If it seems a little boring, watch Amadeus and listen again!) It can be consuming, which works for me when I'm meditating.

Paula Cole

I love most Paula Cole songs. I love listening to her soulful sounds! Her music works for meditation, or just adding some mellow to the night.
