Water Water Water

When I remember to drink enough water, I am happier, more energetic, and generally feel better in almost every way. When I slack off on hydration, depression and exhaustion take hold, reminding me to drink up!

Adopted a Dog

A couple of years ago I adopted a rescue dog who needs a lot of exercise. Because of him, I am guaranteed to get outside twice a day, regardless of the weather. Walking the dog clears my mind, keeps my weight down, and keeps my heart healthy.

Eating Better is Best

I gave up foods with aspartame. I was drinking way too many diet drinks in search of quick energy boosts from caffeine. I am amazed at how much better I feel. I also feel much better when I make time to walk. It is one of the best stress relievers I know.

Yoga, More Down Time, and Bed!

I used to be a serious work-a-holic. I had to get real sick a few times to finally admit I needed to include breaks in my schedule. I worked on it for months, but now, I make sure to rest and relax a little each day, and each week. BIG difference! Another big help was practicing yoga, taking a class 3 times a week. A sort of forced break, but also great for making me feel stronger and more confident. And, bed time! Now that I'm not pushing myself to work all night, I try to go to sleep at a reasonable hour. This one I fall back on every so often, and stay up way too late... but since the effect on my mood and health is so obvious, I'm quick to get back to a normal routine.

Stress Relievers

Attending a yoga class, eating low glceamic foods, taking a nap daily after lunch for an hour, and avoiding the mall. Shopping once a week, if I run out, I make do with what Ive got. Turning off the television. Opening the curtains and windows to let in the fresh air. Checking email only once a day. Only using the cellphone in an emergency, Less tea, no coffee and very little wine. A daily vitamin. Sounds Boring, I know, but I look and feel better and my family are happy. Laundry is done every day, to keep the load manageable.

Life Style Changes

I may not be going to the gym like I should, but I am eating healthier & getting more sleep. I also schedule a morning time to start my day by using gratitude, relaxation, meditation, mini mind vacations & my #1 favorite, controled breathing. I already have a stress injury, so not using these skills is not am option, it's necessary.

Better Sleep

I used to stay up too late. Well, I still do, but I find ways to fit in a nap if I need to, and I find that on days when I do that, I'm less stressed by things that happen in my day. I snap at people less and am generally happier. (And so is everyone in my path, lol.)

Less Work, More Play!

I used to work too hard. I felt tired, stressed and even resentful about it for several years, and got to a point where I didn't feel like I knew who I was anymore. I decided to streamline things with my work (just a little bit) and find ways to have more fun. Now I take exercise classes and am furthering my education, too. I feel more 'alive' now, and things roll off my back more easily.
