Music Outreach
- I've been involved in music outreaches at nursing and adult homes for many years. While I was in college, I truly believe that outreach was the only thing keeping me sane! Now, helping direct outreaches with the Institute for Music and Health , I have seen the same results in children - especially those with special needs. Music is a powerful force to breaking down internal and external social barriers.

Know What Their Issues Are
- I'm always careful to ask my kids what's going on in their lives--not just with school work, but socially and emotionally. I ask what happened in their day, and I listen and remember, and help them deal with ongoing problems. I also watch carefully, in case there are issues they forget to bring up. I let them know I'm always here for them, for support, advice, or sometimes cookies.

More Play Time
- We keep our kids so busy these days, sometimes they just need to be...kids! I try to factor in more time to just play with them, and let them play on their own. Play time is very important for balance and stress relief.
