Definition: While there are many meanings for this word, including an organization, an energy, and a style of meditation, zen, as it relates to stress management, can be described as a mental state achieved through meditation where one’s intellectual brain and internal dialogue are silent. You can achieve this zen state of mind through certain types of meditation, through repetitive non-verbal activity, through completely focusing on physical sensations, or through being completely mindful of current activities and ‘in the now’. This state of mind is a great remedy for stress.
