The Exercise Assessment Worksheet

Assessing Yourself
It's important to look at what you need from an exercise program so you'll be able to prioritize which ones might work for you the best. (Keep in mind that you should consult your doctor before beginnign a new type of exercise.) Ask yourself the following questions:

Do I want something that requires practice to perfect (like martial arts), and provides increasing rewards, or am I looking for something that's easy to do as a beginner (like walking)?

Do I want to bring in a professional to help me learn (like a karate instructor or personal trainer), or do I want to learn the technique on my own?

How much time each week would I like to devote to this (keeping in mind that the more time spent, the greater the rewards, usually)?

Am I looking to reshape my body, or just reduce stress?

Do I have physical limitations I should be concerned about?

What appeals to me?

Looking At New Techniques
Here, I'd like you to list several new techniques you'd like to try, or techniques you've tried that you may want to make a regular habit:

Playing Favorites:
After trying several techniques, I'd like you to list your favorites below, and decide on a regular schedule to try one or all of them, such as "Yoga three mornings a week" or "20-minute walk every day at lunch".
