Whatever your boredom level, this month, I challenge you to add some excitement and fun to your life and create the opposite of boredom. If there's something you've been meaning to do in your life, but you've been putting it off for 'when there's more time' (but still find enough time for television), take some steps toward it this month! If there's something you want, but are settling for the easy route, make a plan! It may seem that now isn't the right time to move toward fun and frivolity, or for taking on big new plans in your life (and, don't worry, your plans can be baby steps), but you may actually feel energized by doing something you love and enjoy, and that energy can spill into other areas of your life, and relieve stress at the same time.
What should you add to your life? I recommend what positive psychology refers to as gratifications, which are activities that can add just the right mix of challenge and enjoyment and passion to your life. You can craft a life that includes mostly gratifications--a job that utilizes your strengths and excites you to come to every morning, relationships that are exciting and stimulating, and weekends filled with hobbies, clubs and exercise--or you can add just one or two gratifications, and see how different your life feels. Play with it this month, and see what fits best for you.
What would you love to do to stave off boredom in your life and your family's life? What are you already doing that you love? Please share in the comments section, and pass this along with the share button if you've found it to be helpful. Have a great week!
