By March 24, 2012

Follow me on:

Being a busy mom myself, I understand and sympathize with the plight of busy moms everywhere. I've found that 'busy mom' is almost a redundant term, in that virtually all moms I know are busy, and that probably won't change with a few articles from me. Being busy is pretty much a given for moms in that they have so many responsibilities, and most of them are important. Being stressed, however, isn't entirely necessary. Moms (and other people as well) can use the following tips to bring their level of busy-ness to a manageable level and take the edge off of their schedule. Enjoy!

Time Management Tips for Moms
Between kids' activities, household responsibilities and, for many, the demands of a stressful workplace, many mothers have given up on the fight to find time for themselves and are just trying to get everything done. The following time management tips can be used by busy moms everywhere to take some of the stress out of life, and create more time for fun times with children, quality time with their partner, or even that coveted and nearly forgotten alone time.

Tips on Getting Organized
Getting organized can be a busy mom's secret weapon for stress relief. However, going about being organized is more difficult than it sounds in that there are so many facets of life that need organization, and so many ways one can organize. Here's how to go about getting organized enough to really feel some stress relief benefits, without going overboard.

How To Delegate Tasks
Because today's moms are wearing so many hats, learning how to delegate tasks is a must. That doesn't mean it comes easily. These tips on delegating tasks are perfectly geared toward busy moms who need to delegate tasks, but the principles can be used by everyone who needs to enlist help.

In this day and age, when it seems like there is more and more to juggle in life, time management can be helpful. In my work as a Psychologist in Los Angeles and Mindfulness Teacher, what I am finding even more helpful and ‘necessary’ is attention management. Between work life and home life and all the things we need to attend to we have become an ADD culture and it’s important to cultivate control of our attention to be more effective in life and work. When I say more effective in life I also mean being able to have time for restoration when necessary. I’ve written up a short piece on attention management in my own blog. Feel free to click on my name above to check it out!

My time management comes and goes in cycles, but the best long-standing tip I could offer would be the time-tested one of getting up earlier than one has to to make it to work on time. Spend a leisurely time checking e-mails or whatever. The extra time allows for plenty of time to get ready for work or to finish a small project before one’s day officially starts. When I get this head start on my work days, my tasks throughout the day fall into place much more smoothly.

Shirley: That’s a great time management tip! (And one that took me several years as a mom to figure out, I’m a little embarrassed to admit.) I find that when I get up too late, I feel like I’m scrambling for the rest of the day.

Have you ladies ever thought of time management on line? A simple tool I have found that is specifically dedicated and created for our “Busy Mom” demographic. Its called Calendar Cruncher. It has just become a great way for me to manage everything I need to do with the kids and my husband, plus all the separate meetings I might have as well.. Just a thought, I know it helped me.
