When a parent needs full attention, sometimes goals are lost or forgotten at least for awhile. Traveling, jobs, and living in one’s own home must often be put aside. The needs override any goals that were made and then it is just making it through for awhile…..Although it is worth all the effort…..Hold on to those goals as much as possible….
I agree with Gina Rose:)
You bring up a very important point about goals, stress management, and life in general: when our circumstances change, our goals need to change, too, or at least take a different path. Adhering rigidly to goals can actually cause more stress than seeing what needs to be done, what’s possible, and reaching for your best options at the time. When you find yourself as a full-time caregiver, sometimes your goals have to stay as simple as, ‘Take care of myself, too,” or, “Reduce stress wherever possible,” but you can relax in the knowledge that you’re doing what you need to do in the situation. And you’re doing something very important. Thanks, Gina Rose and Glenda, for your comments!
